At Eating Gracefully, we'll start with a phone consultation where I can assess your needs. From there, we can plan cooking lessons, a pantry makeover or market tours.
INDIVIDUAL COOKING LESSONS
I can help you learn to prepare some of your favorite foods in a healthier way. We can substitute sugars, use gluten-free grains, and incorporate heart healthy ingredients into your diet. You'll learn not so much how to follow recipes, but how to improvise and cook intuitively, using mostly local and seasonal ingredients and whatever's lurking in your refrigerator or pantry. (Yes, that celery going bad in the crisper can be used!)
Whether you don't know how to cook or you're the Queen of the Bake Sale, whether you live alone or have a family of four, I can teach you some professional cooking tips to simplify the cooking process so you can prepare delicious, easy, and mostly vegetarian meals for yourself or your family. I'll teach you ways to prep and cook for several days worth of meals, so even if you don't have a lot of time, you'll still have time to eat well.
It's difficult to become healthy when your pantry contains food with ingredients you can't pronounce. Together, we can go through your pantry and learn how to read the labels better. We'll swap out what needs to go with healthier staples that don't have additives, hidden sugars or chemicals. I can also help you create a gluten-free pantry. If you're interested, I can include a 2-3 hour shopping consultation with trips to various health food stores.
I'm a licensed tour guide and the photographer of a book called Greenmarket. By the time you've gone on one of my market tours, you'll have some ideas of how you can prepare everything from those gnarly winter root vegetables to those delicate squash blossoms that you see at the Union Square Greenmarket in the summer.
